Figured out when designing paper pieced number patterns you have to
mirror the pattern.

Garden Girls Fiber Book Page

"Garden Girls"
A page for the year long fiber book project. In addition to the pages we are all exchanging, I am also creating a pages with a "new" techniques.
This book has really been a wonderful way to try out a technique on a larger scale then the fabric postcards but not as large as a small quilt. Also, the pages will make for a great reference for successful and not so successful color combinations and techniques.
All of the pages so far have been ideas that I thought would make attractive art quilts- again some more successful then others.
The back of each page includes info about the technique used, fabrics, threads, what worked/what did not.

Bugs Life Fabric Postcards

Bugs Life Fabric Postcards- I am totally into paper piecing. Learned it at Martha Pullen Market last month. It is like a horrible addiction....
This is my first paper pattern design, it was designed using EQ6 program. I designed the block in the block draw feature. The pattern is of two jars filled with bugs. Working on samples jars of fruit and veggies and a few candy jar quilter trading cards to swap in Houston at the Quilt Show in October. Will post photos of those later when they are finished.

Alford Inn- Quilt Shop and Retreat
Just returned home from the Alford Inn in Van Alstyne, TX. We had an absolute BLAST!!! The retreat center and quilt store opened in January, so we had never been there before. The retreat center is in an old refurbished home that is just gorgeous. Each of the beds had quilts on them and were very comfortable. It was like "band camp" for quilters! All the food was cooked by Cindy Alford and was delicious (yay to no cooking and sewing all day).

Martha Pullen 2009 Class Schedules
This will be my third year to go to the Martha Pullen Market in Arlington Texas. It is a wonderfl opportunity to learn new techniques and or improve on sewing skills. They offer hands on classes that are reasonably prices.
My favorite are the "free" classes that you can take throughout the market. With the paid admission you get a band to wear on your wrist- that gets you into the free classes. Those are wonderful. They are lecture style classes about an hour long if I recall. These are wonderful to expose you to new techniques that you may not want to pay for a full class if you are not sure your interest level.
Check it out- its coming up soon!
